Hilti Seismic Set in Seismic C2 applications with oversized baseplate holes.

Can seismic filling set be used in applications where the holes in baseplate are oversized or is it only designed for use in typical drilled hole tolerance? (e.g typically M20 with a Ø22mm hole, will it still work in a C2 seismic category with a oversized Ø25mm hole)

Hi Sebastian, When we refer to the TR029, the diameter of the clearance hole must be 2-3 mm only and must not be larger than the value according to Table 4.1. This is reflected similarly in the EN1992-4:2018.However, there are a couple of exceptions; large annular gaps can only be accepted in the following cases:a) For fastenings loaded in tension, only a larger diameter of the clearance hole is acceptable if a correspondent washer is used.b) For fastenings loaded in shear or combined tension and shear if the gap between the hole and the fixture is filled with mortar of sufficient compression strength or eliminated by other suitable means. If you use filling set washers with RE500, you can have a larger annular gap, usually up to 15 mm and with HY200, usually up to 5mm. I've attached an engineering advice document for the same. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to reach out to us.
