Fixing Reinforcement for seismic in New Zealand (C2)

Is using Hilti HIT RE-500 V4 with rebar appropriate for seismic loading in New Zealand. The Technical Data sheet only refers to C1 load capacities for reinforcement?

Hi Daniel,

Thank you for your question!
Short answer: Yes, RE500 V4 is suitable for seismic loading in NZ – You can find the rebar specific European Technical Assessment (ETA), under the Documents, Approval Document section on the product page:
“ ETA-20-0540 HIT-RE-500 V4 Rebar EC2 100 years” I have also attached it for your reference.

Longer answer: There is no differentiation for Seismic C2 and C1 for Post-installed rebar specifically, there is just reference to seismic application which is referenced in the EN 1992-1-1, and we have the specific essential characteristics for it on pages 30 and 31 of the ETA (also attached for reference).
I’d recommend simulating your specific case in the Post-installed rebar module on our free software : Hilti PROFIS Engineering
Where it will automatically consider the correct characteristic bond strength, seismic and reduction factors for your scenario.
