Edge and Pry Breakout and beam reinforcment
What constitutes close and tightly spaced stirrups? We have an existing beam with stirrups, but I am curious if the reinforcement is adequate enough to be considered close/tightly spaced.

Thanks for the query. The closed and tightly spaced stirrups clause is from Eurocode 2 Part 4 Section 7.2.2.5 (13). This clause allows us to increase the edge breakout strength by 40% if the spacing of stirrups is less than or equal to 100mm and spacing of stirrups is at most twice the critical edge distance.
Also, this clause is only applicable if the effective embedment depth is more than 2.5 times the concrete cover of edge reinforcement.
